On Saturday 16th September 2023 we were thrilled to be able to open up the Tower for the first time since autumn 2022 in order to show members of the public some of the changes in progress ahead of our formal reopening in spring 2024.
Our Senior Curator Dr Amy Frost and Capital Works Director Simon Butler led private tours around the Tower and landscape, showing visitors the various areas where work is taking place, including the newly reopened Tower Vault.
Attendees also had the opportunity to talk to the team on the ground about the Tower and its history, including William Beckford and his story. Families enjoyed a range of conservation-themed activities.

Beckford’s Tower is currently undergoing capital works funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund, Historic England, and many other generous supporters. Reopening is scheduled for spring 2024, with tickets on sale from March 2024.
