Bath Preservation Trust Volunteers at Beckford’s Tower

Bath Preservation Trust will be re-opening Beckford’s Tower and Museum to the public in late spring 2024 following an extensive capital works project.

We are recruiting five different Volunteer roles:

  • Museum Volunteer
  • Gardening and Landscape Volunteer
  • Events Volunteer
  • Evaluation Volunteer
  • Learning and Engagement Volunteer

We are looking for people with a range of different experiences, for example if you are interested in the Museum Volunteer it would be beneficial if you have experience of working with the public in a customer facing role with great customer service skills. However, if you are interested in the Gardening Role it would be beneficial if you enjoy working outdoors. In all the roles, experience of working in museums would be useful but is not essential as full training will be given. The roles will start from March 2024 with some training sessions being held in late February 2024.

Through the new layered interpretation, the Tower and Beckford’s story will be identified and explained with authenticity, integrity and sensitivity. This includes subjects of enslavement, exploitation and prejudice.

All volunteer expenses will be paid and after six months you will receive free entry into Bath Preservation Trust museums.

For further information about the roles including the role description, please visit the following links:

If you would like to express your interest for any of the roles, please send an email to Tower@bptrust.org.uk.

An application form is available to complete here.

We realise that text-based does not suit everyone, so if you would like to express your interest in a different way, for example via video or audio, require information in a different format, or need any other support with your application, please get in touch either by emailing us on Tower@bptrust.org.uk  or by calling 01225 338727.  We want to remove as many barriers to applying as we can.

Bath Preservation Trust is committed to Equality, Diversity and Inclusion.

We will particularly welcome applications from people from those sections of the community who are under-represented in Bath Preservation Trust and in the wider heritage sector including those from Global Ethnic Majority and / or disabled applicants.
