What happens to revenue from weddings and other events?
The building carries a layered history. Constructed in the early 19th century for William Beckford, whose wealth was gained from transatlantic slavery, the tower stands as a reminder of Britain’s colonial past. Today, this history is not overlooked. Through interpretation, events, and ongoing projects, the museum works to address and explore these legacies with transparency and openness.
Choosing to hold your wedding here helps us to make that work possible. Income from venue hire supports the care of the building and funds programmes focused on education, collaboration, and inclusive public engagement, ensuring the tower remains a place of learning and history, as well as the celebration of new beginnings.
